You would find it hard to believe that this tranquil oasis is on the edge of Castries the capital of St. Lucia. It is just above the Vigie Bay Marina on the hill over looking the harbour and the inlet that is a natural sanctuary for many birds and marine life.
Our new promo “PoinsettiaVillas Oasis On the Edge of the City” is on several Instagram accounts and social media.
It Features the bay just below Poinsettia – There is a small-craft, shallow-draft marina and several restaurants on the bay. Egrets nest in the trees just below the villas.
Take a Walk to The City
You can take a shortcut to the harbour dock at point Seraphine. It’s just 5 minutes away from your villa. On the way you pass the fish market and duty free shop. Further on is Castries, a bustling tropical port city with government and business offices, churches, parks, monuments, markets and shops of all sorts. There are restaurants, haberdashery, beauty salons, hairdresser, hardware stores, department stores and shopping for all your needs.
The fruit and vegetable stalls in the market are a popular attraction for its fresh local products brought into town daily by the local farmers.
Its only moments away for city shopping, the markets, restaurants and close to all activities. But, it feels like it is miles away in a tropic forest. Poinsettia villas are spacious and private.
Organic fruit and vegetables are grown in the family estate adjoining the 7 villas, pool and roof top terrace. Coconuts, breadfruit, mangoes, bananas, vegetables and provisions from the garden are shared with guests when in season.
There is a statue of Sir John Compton that stands in center of Castries town in St. Lucia. Tourist often just passed it by without knowing much about it. So we want to put that right:
Sir John Compton was the farther of St. Lucia Independence (achieved on 22 February 1979). He was a fiery orator and by all accounts the British had their hands full when he landed on their shores to talk about independence. He had studied law and economics at University College of Wales from 1948 to 1949 and the London School of Economics from 1949 to 1951 and was an able communicator with a powerful vocabulary and a sharp independent mind.
Sir John repatriated the constitution and led St. Lucia to independence from the British in 1979. The negotiations where full of fire as Sir John was an outspoken antagonist.
Apparently he was kept waiting far too long for his liking and when finally called into the ministers offices, he open with a bast that he was no lackey to be waiting on their matters of priority when he had come several thousand miles to meet them, with respect, and he expected nothing less than the same from them. This sort of disdain, he declared, was exactly why St. Lucia needed to break the British ties.
On signing the declaration he pronounced “the colour of our skin is against us and a government, even a one that professes democracy, is pleased to legislate and pronounce the doctorine of second class citizenship for people of another colour.”
That sort of spirited encounter from a man of the people is a story worth sharing.
He is indeed one of the remarkable men of this tiny island. Sir John fits well into the mold of exceptional St. Lucian’s – along with the two St. Lucia Nobel Laureates poet Derick Walkcott andeconomist Sir William Arthur Lewis.
The Castries Statue of Sir John Compton is a bronze sculpture by Ricky George of St. Lucia. It shows him holding the new constitution he received from Briton. It is 9 feet tall and stands on a 6-foot base. The inscription reads: “The Right Honourable Sir John George Melvin Compton / Saint Lucia’s First Prime Minister & Champion of Caribbean Integration / 1925 – 2007. The Statue was commissioned by the Government of St. Lucia and completed in 2011.
Castries the capital city of Saint Lucia was established by the French in 1650, Castries now has a population of just over 11,000. Attractions: Castries duty free shopping, Castries Market for fruits, vegetables and handicrafts. Restaurants and ports. Castries look like a city in disarray, but if you take time you will find hidden gems, one is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception – see Murals local artist inside. See also: Derek Walcott Square. Morne Fortune panoramic vistas of the bay where the French and English battled for the island. More coming soon.
It’s humbling and so very gratifying to get a review like this. Thank you Elizabeth for your lovely review on “Something Special St. Lucia villas”
It was lovely having you to stay and so glad I was able to help out with tips and suggestion. St. Lucians are friendly and always ready to help, as you noted with your “wonderful memory of the Saturday market in Castries”, getting help to select the perfect mango”. Thanks for sharing that, I know other guest will appreciate that aspect of your stay. The markets are just moments away.
You are the perfect guest for a Poinsettia Villa Holiday. Its really for travellers like you who want to get out and explore and have a unique experience, as you say “a feeling of being at home and being a temporary local”.
Saint Lucia has a lot to offer and I love getting to know guests to help them enjoy a personal itinerary that is just right for them, from wild and wet adventures in rain-forest and sulfur springs to elegant dinning and soulful relaxing.

The Poinsettia Villa Apartments are really special. The staff is wonderful. Margaux helped us in so many ways–like contacting the tour company organizing our excursions to find out the pick-up times. She provided more than you might expect–a loaner local phone, for example, and the number for a good local taxi service and the fares to expect. She was always willing to provide any information I needed–like the opening times for the nearest supermarket during the New Year’s holidays.
Our villa apartment (# 2 TreeTops 2 bedroom ocean view villa ) was large, with everything we needed, with a panoramic view. It was quiet and clean, and the gardens were beautiful. I absolutely loved watching the sunset with my husband from the deck and, in the early morning from our kitchen table, seeing the ships in the shining water of the harbor.
When we traveled on excursions with visitors from cruise ships or “all-inclusive” resorts, I felt sorry for them because of all they were missing–a feeling of being at home and being a “temporary local,” as well as getting to know some wonderful St. Lucians.
Staying at a place like the Poinsettia Villa Apartments, we had twice the experience at a fraction of the cost. For example, I have a wonderful memory of the Saturday market in Castries, when a local fellow shopper helped me select a mango that would be ripe enough to eat the same day. For another example, I was able to appreciate the Vigie peninsula more after hearing Margaux’s description of the way it used to be years ago.
The apartments are very well located. Three good restaurants are very nearby; it’s easy to walk to central Castries. We took trips north to Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island and south to Soufriere. We chose the Poinsettia Villa Apartments because of the excellent reviews, and we understand why those reviews were so good–and we agree!

If you’re coming to the Caribbean for a holiday, you’ve chosen one of the most beautiful, friendly and vibrant regions of the tropical world to come to. You’ve also picked a destination full of islands, each one with its own culture, history and charm. But if you’re looking for a accommodation and a place that caters as much to the lovers of the world as the families, then you want to come to one island; St. Lucia, and there are a lot of good reasons for that.
An Island Of History & Love
St. Lucia is the only island in the world to be named after a woman, in this case, St. Lucy of Syracuse. Since the first Western visitors came to the island in the 1600s, it has been a point of contention in Colonial wars, changing hands between the French and the British fourteen times, earning it another nickname, “the Helen of the West Indies.”
Today, St. Lucia is a sovereign nation, part of the British Commonwealth, and has a reputation for being one of the great honeymoon destinations of the world. The gorgeous landscape of the Caribbean combined with tropical weather and the friendly hospitality of the islanders has made St. Lucia an ideal stop for both the newly married and established families alike. But if you’re going to come to such a beautiful, welcoming island, why settle for the typical tourist experience? Why not stay on the island on your terms?
Holiday Home Accommodation n St. Lucia
There are many ways to enjoy your stay in this lovely island, including the more conventional St. Lucia accommodation experience from hotels to inns and guest houses. But there’s another alternative for people that want more privacy, space and control. Poinsettia Villa Apartments St. Lucia is one of those ways. It’s a unique St. Lucia self catering accommodationalternative that is in a beautiful resort setting. It doesn’t just give you a hotel room, or even an apartment to stay in, it is an entire home.
Poinsettia Villa Apartments St. Lucia is a complete townhouse villa complex that provides every guest with their own spacious home, complete with all the facilities you’d expect, like a kitchen if you want to try your hand at some home cooked meals using the local fish and market provisions. But there are other facilities included that you’d only expect from a luxury hotel experience, like the vast rooftop sunset deck, and the resort swimming pool to enjoy and relax in under the tropical sun.
This is the perfect stay for the couple or family that wants the comforts of home, the luxuries of a hotel, and the privacy and control of your own space, all while enjoying the pleasures of the Caribbean. And once you’re out of the villa and on the island itself, there’s plenty to do.
Of course we know that not everyone wants self catering or a home, an apartment or a villa resort. St. Lucia apartments and villas are great for families and groups. There are one Saint Lucia apartments and villas ranging from one bedroom apartments for couples and singles, two bedroom villas for couples and small families and of course larger units for families and groups. With seven units in all, families can mix and match different combination to accommodate large and small groups. The entire Poinsettia resort may also be booked for special occasions like weddings or conferences.
Maybe you want a hotel or perhaps an ultra luxury private villa. We want you to experience St. Lucia Accommodations & Holidays Your Way . Mind you, having a kitchen is a useful option that makes it convenient to have a home style breakfast, a snack or a full meal. It does not mean you have to eat-in always. It just means that you dont have to dine-out all the time. Our guest love the gourmet dining at the best restaurants in the island and our island adventure pages and quick island activities guide is designed to help you with ideas for your vacation. We stand by to help you with personal recommendations too.
In those holiday accommodation pages we also give you a directory of many other places to stay. Our guest like that, they come on vacation not to be seen but to experience and enjoy the island away from crowds. We offer just that, but if it’s not for you there are many other options. The island has great diversity of places to stay and we are happy to help you find the right lodging for your personal vacation.
Choose Your Island Holiday Activities and Adventures
For people that are wondering about what’s just under that beautiful blue ocean water, snorkelling and scuba sessions are available to take in the wonders of the sea. Or hop aboard a sailboat for a tour along the coast. If you’re more inclined to take in the sights and sounds of nature on foot, spectacular hiking trips and nature trails take people to some of the most breathtaking views on the island. Or maybe you’re more of a social type and want the company of people looking to have a good time. If it’s Friday night, you can take part in the Gros Islet Street Party where the food, music, drinks and people all come together to have a good time. Our page on St. Lucia Accommodation Island Holidays & Activities gives you a guide of things to do and ways to do it.

“I just got back from my stay at Poinsettia Villa Apartments. It was a wonderful experience. It is a family run business and everyone is so helpful and friendly. The villa apartment I stayed in was #6 and it was very spacious and clean with two bedrooms en-suite .Large living area, well equipped kitchen, stove, microwave, cooking utensils, washing machine, dryer, iron etc .. Made the apt feel like a home away from home.
The grounds are beautifully kept, with lots of colorful tropical plants and fruit trees. The property is nestled on a hillside overlooking the harbour . The views were amazing and one of my favorite things to do was sit on the terrace and watch the sunset as the cruise ships went by….. I also enjoyed my morning swim and relaxing on the lounge chairs by the pool so peaceful and quiet .

Thank you John V for this lovely 5 star review. We are so glad that you found Poinsettia Villas – it is always a joy having you to stay. We love that you say you will not stay anywhere else in Castries. It is indeed a unique location, so close to the city center, duty free shopping, farmers market, fish market and yet in a true sanctuary on a hilltop overlooking one of the most picturesque bays in St. Lucia.
The YouTube Blog has the entire transcript of what Marie said in her review and as you can see HolidayHotelreviews have donr=e a great job of making all come alive with real video and photos that animate the experience.
All villas have their own specific charm and personality. The Nook is a little differed in that it is tucked away under the roof top terrace and between the pool and the gardens with a good through breeze most of the time. Guests always tell us that it is Quiet, Cool and Private. It does not have a direct view of the ocean. Marie often relaxed in the outside garden area just a few feet away from her front door. The sea is visible and it is a lovely shaded spot under the trees. Perhaps that is why guest who stay there always want to come back to the Nook; Safe, Quiet, Cool and Private.

In this Lovely 5 Star Review By Asha we learn that she loved the spectacular ocean view, the great location on the edge of the city and the Nature Gardens & Birds!. But perhaps even more rewarding is what she said about our dedicated staff and their attention. In her words:
“Thank you so much Margaux, Diane, Phillip, Monique and Joseph. You really take pride in this place and it shows. You are all wonderful. Please continue with this fantastic venture.”
Thank you Asha, it is very rewarding to hear that we are appreciated. We always go out of our way to over deliver, with all sort of things you will not find in many holiday resorts anywhere. From sharing cell phones, that we know come in handy and are a bother to organize, to sharing fruit and vegetables from our organic gardens. The truth is we love to make our guests happy and everyone at Poinsettia cares deeply about guests experience in this wonderful island.
Thanks you for sharing – It was lovely having you to stay and we all look forward to your return.
Here is the full review by Asha:
“We spent a week here and now have serious withdrawal symptoms. Overlooking Vigie Cove and Auberge Seraphine, this family run, self-catering apartment complex is truly a gem. Thank you so much [Everyone].
The apartments are perfect for independent travellers like us, who want to experience the real Caribbean. The apartments are spacious, well decorated, fully equipped and comfortable.
Everything one could hope for in a home, away from home! Even the fruits from the garden are a treat! Thanks! Good wifi and thrilled that we were provided with a cell phone to use! Poinsettia apartments are located within walking distance to downtown Castries where we did our shopping in the Central Market. Good prices and friendly people.
Also Vigie Beach is about 20 min walk away. This beach is perfect, where the locals bathe and away from the hustle of the more touristy places. At times it felt like we were the only ones there. We rented a car and thanks to Margaux who kindly arranged quotes for us. This allowed us to experience more of the island on our own. But it was so great to come back to the apartment in the afternoon, have a swim in the pool, watch the sunset and see the Carnival catamaran cruises return to their base.
I loved floating in the pool and watching the White Egret birds which nest outside Auberge Seraphine, fly overhead. We wish the pool hours could be extended for a couple hours more in the evening though. In closing we have had a perfect stay and hope to be back again soon to Saint Lucia and Poinsettia Apartments.”
We are really delighted with this review and what HolidayHotelReviews.biz has done to animate it so brilliantly. You really do get a sense of the resort and of St. Lucia. The images of downtown Castries are priceless. It also demonstrates how guest review videos showcase the authentic lifestyle holiday experience and the human touch we take pride in at our very private little Villa Resort up on the hilltop by the sea.
Margaret was a wonderful guest and it was lovely having her to stay. She was a real “Poinsettia person”, someone who just does not want to be thought of as a tourist when they travel to get away and rejuvenate.
A Lifestyle Holiday, Not a Tourist Destination
According to AirBnb “Almost half of all Americans don’t want to be considered a tourist when they travel.” All of Poinsettia’s guests want to get to know neighborhoods and to have an authentic travel experience. They definitely do not want to be herded around with a crowd of tourist. That’s why we built this unique Villa Resort with a balance of space and privacy and still with people to take care of things and be there for you. Our in-house guides and list of things and places to visit have all sorts of gems of helpful information.
Guests drop into the office to ask us about places and we are happy to share our local knowledge and suggest an option we thing they might love. St. Lucia is diverse so there are lots of things to choose from.
Human Touch & All Those Extras
It was lovely to see Margaret write about our human touch. Our family gardens are bursting with fruits and vegetables which we often leave at guests’ doors, without making a song and dance or interrupting them. Privacy is important here and travellers who are not tourists mingle when they want and with whom they want. We don’t have cocktail parties and set agendas of any sort. Guests often meet and conversation and friendship do spring up because we are like-minded people who enjoy and appreciate quiet reflection and personal experience. And it seems that we independent-minded travelllers are not alone. Nearly 50% of people polled by Airbnb said that they really do not like navigating huge crowds of people.
Cell Phones for St. Lucia
Phones are always a problem for travellers and sometimes it’s not all that easy or convenient to change Sim cards, especially when you want to maintain the chats and connections you have with home. That is why we sometimes just lend guests a phone to help them get around, make appointments and arrange tours.
We keep a small supply of cell phones on hand for those who don’t want to bother with changing SIMs and would like to be in contact with things on the island. It saves a lot of bother.
Thanks Margaret for making a note of that.
All our team are people persons and love to help. If we can, we help out with occasional lifts, especially when guests first arrive. Just as Philip helped out with a lift to the supermarket. Although we often add a welcome basket, there is often something one would like on arrival.
So thanks everyone for all your lovely feedback and reviews. We like to hear all your construction suggestions, and we take them all very seriously.
Thanks also to HHR for its excellent work with reviews to make them really come alive and tell a story in rich detail.
We have partnered with HolidayHotel.reviews to bring reviews to the site and make it easier for guest to give us feedback and add their own reviews. The reviews are aggregated from all sites on the net including TripAdvisor and now even our own website with the new Guests Feedback & Reviews Page. It means guests do not have to laeve our site to see reviews that include a text summary and also jshow what the reviewer is talking about.
What is different is that they are animated with video and high resolution graphics and posted out to the HolidayHotel.Reviews network and our own Social Media. That means our guest and people looking for a villa resort will see reviews in a visual way that will show them just how lovely poinsettia villa apartments really are.
For example in this review by a recent guest, location was their number one feature. As they say it was central to all they wanted to do and a great place to back to for an bit of a siesta before going off to dine and see the Saint lucia nightlife. s we say “It is a great Place to come home to!”
Based on their comments holidayhotel.reviews animated, with a map video and photos, the places they liked to visit, so that you can see how central Poinsettia really is. The video is really helpful to guests looking to stay in a villa or apartment resort of good quality that is central to beaches and adventures. We have seen an increase in engagement on our network on these videos.
There are several mocking birds that you will hear when staying at Poinsettia Villa Apartments. They are the birds most featured in our home page video. Their song is beautiful and varied because they mock other birds and even people. You will hear Mocking Birds Singing throughout the day but they are especially tuneful early in the morning and at sunset.
According to PBS “The dawn chorus is one of the marvels of nature. Birds all over the world show the greatest amount of singing activity around dawn, from English woodland to tropical rainforest. But why they do it is still not clearly understood.” http://www.pbs.org/lifeofbirds/songs/
You can have a conversation in song with the Poinsettia mocking birds. Just try it: When you hear them sing echo back and put your own twist on it. They may surprise you with their own version. In a conversation, they love to add some twists and carry the tune to new heights Pretty soon it gets hard to keep up as they love to warble and improvise with range and texture of their own. As in Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah they add their own variation on “the fourth, the fifth, a minor fall and a major lift. Ornithologist Kim Derrickson, of Loyola University in Baltimore, who studies mockingbirds suggests that “perfect fourths are pleasing to people — and maybe birds, too.”
“When the survey voyage of HMS Beagle visited the Galápagos Islands in September to October 1835, Charles Darwin noticed that the mockingbirds differed from island to island, and were closely allied in appearance to mockingbirds on the South American mainland.” See more like this on wikipedia>>>
Darwin speculated that this variation of species from one location to another, undermined the doctrine of stability of species, leading to the conclusion that they evolved differently to suite the environment . This led eventually to his theory of evolution”
Saint Lucia Bird watching
Over 177 different species of birds have been sighted in the various walks and nature trails on the island, several are endemic to the island. There are many migratory birds and Inland Water Birds. Hummingbirds, The St Lucia Pee Wee, St Lucia Warbler, St Lucia Oriole, Banana Quit, Carib Grackle, Black Faced Grass Quit, Black Finch, Fly Catcher and Tropical Mocking Bird are just a few of the many species that you might see on your nature walks. For a complete list see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_of_Saint_Lucia
Bird watching Saint Lucia is very accessible in St. Lucia as nothing is very far away. The island is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide and their are many nature paths and tours not far from your villa at Poinsettia. The gardens at Poinsettia are home to many species including the mockingbird, sparrows, thrushes and thrashers. The inlet at the foot of the hill is a natural sanctuary for Egrets. There are always some Egrets to be seen on the trees but most fly off at dawn and back again at dusk.
We will be pleased yo help you arrange a tour. For more info on tours you may check BarefooHolidays
Saint Lucia Going Green with Wind & Solar Power – an Example for Caribbean Sustainable Tourism
The St. Lucia Government announced recently that it already has two government agencies now equipped with solar power and that by 2020 35% of its electricity will be from renewable sources which will include use of abundant natural resources like the wind and sun.
“The transition to renewable power sources is a fundamental component of the energy security and price stability thrust of the government of St. Lucia,” Prime Minister Kenny Anthony’s administration said.
The Government is also planning on reducing public-sector energy consumption by 20 % in the nest 5 years.
This is on the heals of having received funding for its Geothermal Resource Development Project which got $2.8 million in grants from the World Bank and the New Zealand government last year.
Natural Approach to Sustainable Energy
These steps and plans show an enlightened approach to sustainable tourism and economic development in the Regions. The region is ideally disposed to wind and solar powered energy with more sunshine per year that most part of the world. Wind is also in good supply with the Caribbean Windward islands like Saint Lucia having the advantage of strong and consistent trade-winds throughout the year.
The same wind that powered the Santa Maria that brought Christopher Columbus, and after him the Spanish, French, Dutch, English and Africans to the islands of the Caribbean, is taking the leading role in proving renewable and clean energy for tourism and the economy of all Caribbean windward Islands. It is entirely fitting and most natural that the windward islands, discovered in the days of sail, should pioneer in using natures resources of wind and sun to power its energy needs into the future.

But our lifestyle holiday experience may not be for everyone and we fully understand that (see what we are Not) – That is why we have gone to great lengths to provide you with other options and alternatives for your stay in the beautiful Caribbean island, Saint Lucia.
We have officially launched the new Poinsettia Villa Apartments Resort website, which we hope you will love. The new design captures the flavour of our special hilltop retreat, that is tucked away in the Vigie Cove, just moments away from the city centre, the harbour, fish market, farmers markets and the local island- hopping airport. One of the things that guests love most is feeling as if they are on the edge of a natural bird sanctuary in a tropical forest on a bay; knowing that they are close to everything.
The website was developed by AXSES All Cast Power Marketing Consultants, who have done a great job of providing the right balance of technology and information. We will post the Press release about the “new website launched” shortly.
There are some really unique features that we are particularly pleased with:
1. The full broadcast quality video. Note the messaging – we wanted to be clear that we are not a hotel room or a hotel but a self-catering villa apartment resort with all the comforts of home.
2. The three buttons on the front page give immediate access to what guests most want to know – What the lifestyle holiday for independent travellers is – accommodation options and – affordability. We are working on another video that will compare our offer to the alternatives. We know that we offer the best value and will prove it.
3. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page has become one of the most popular pages and we are adding to it constantly. If you have a questions, just click the Contact Us button at the end of each page and we will get back to you with the answer and add it to the FAQs.
4. We know that independent travellers have different needs and budgets, so we have included a page that compares and suggests alternative villa resorts and self-catering options. More will be added to help travellers make the right choice. Please contact us if you would like us to make a suggestion. We know the island well; we live here and we love to help.
5. Just in case you are not sure about staying here, we also give you a list of things that we are not. The WHY NOT US page will eliminate Poinsettia from your choice if we don’t offer what you are looking for. This happened to us once when the family of a couple booked their accommodation here, thinking that we were more of a hotel with beaches and restaurants and lots to do. We immediately offered the couple their money back, as well as to help them find a suitable place and assist them to move the next day. They fell in love with Poinsettia’s ambiance and decided to say. They had a wonderful time and the entire family was forever grateful to us for making their stay so enjoyable.
6. The social buttons are there to help you share the page you are on. Just click on your favourite site, such as Facebook to share the page with your friends and let them know you found us!
7. We have lots and lots of videos andimages, for the resort as well as for the island in general. Some of the videos show the villa sitting areas, bedrooms and kitchen as they were before the upgrades in 2014. Since then, we have tweaked the kitchen counters, upgraded the living and bedrooms areas with more lively colours and made it more cozy and warm.
Well, I could Go on – but I’ll leave that for another time.
Please let us know what you think and what you would like to see next!
Have wonderful holiday!
Margaux Daher, Marketing Director and Co-owner.
PS >>> We plan to add a page on the story of Poinsettia and the family soon.
It just so happens that Poinsettia Ocean View Resort has just 7 units in all. All are self catering Villa-Apartments which are preferred by independent travellers. It’s also true that this growing segment of the travel market is very discerning and have very specific tastes and expectations.
They are not generally indulgent and are more impressed with value than with frills or luxury. Value means comfort, convenience, space, privacy and independence above all. These are the premise of PoinsettiaApartments.com. They are the reason why the resort has a near perfect score for value on TripAdvisor.
It comes as no surprise that millennium travelers don’ travel to be seen, but they are not reclusive. They like to be where there is some community along with privacy. A small resort that offers privacy is preferred over the large hotel resort or the remote single villa, in many cases.
The 7 criteria of independent travel are the same 7 things that the new breed of Millennium vacationers are looking for. And, as you might expect, they are all part of the mission at PoinsettiaApartments.com.
Poinsettia covers the 7 criteria in all 7 villa apartments for rent in Saint Lucia.
That is 7 criteria for delivering high value independent living vacations in 7 villas and you have 7 outstanding holiday experiences right here in the Poinsettia Ocean View Resort.
The Free Independent Traveller (FIT) is a term that has become more relevant in the age of digital media. They are an economic power that help balance the local economy by spreading their money around to enterprises of all types and sizes. In this way, FIT distribute income from typical tourism resources like the larger established suppliers and tourism products in favor of all the other players. See wikipedia article.
